“Gospel of Glory”

2 Corinthians 4: 4b, 5: “… that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, Who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake.” In this age of self-indulgence, manifested by binge eating, binge drinking, binge watching, binge shopping, and more, we may miss the gist of the glory of Christ: His self-denial as the Suffering Servant. Well, He’s now exalted (Philippians 2: 9), but He left behind His example of servanthood for us to follow; and on this Feast of Transfiguration, we must remember that Paul calls servanthood – his and ours – the good news of glory.
