“Proper Dedication”

2 Chronicles 7: 5: “And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of 22, 000 oxen and 120, 000 sheep. Thus the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.” How did Israel dedicate the newly-built temple? With prayer, praise, and sacrifice. Prodigious amounts of each. For 2 ½ chapters the dedication is recorded, and not one political speech or photo op is mentioned. Could that be done today, without countless people rising up to receive their plaudits? But these guys seemed to know why they were there; perhaps that’s why the nation was so strong at that time.
