Day 50: Spiritual Food in Quarantine

The Good Shepherd

Sometimes I feel like a broken record quoting and emphasizing Jesus’ famous line, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” But like St. Paul said, to repeatedly proclaim an important truth is no trouble for me and it is a safeguard for the hearers. It indicates more than just God’s will of eternal life for us but the extent His Son would go to in order to fulfill it. Jesus, the Good Shepherd lays down His life for us, His sheep. When He said He is the door, He meant it figuratively but also quite literally because a good shepherd would lay at the door of the sheepfold at night to keep the sheep in and the wolves out. NOTHING AND NO ONE CAN HARM US WITHOUT GOING THROUGH JESUS FIRST. That should make us realize that even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we need not fear, or want or worry or be anxious because the Lord is our Shepherd.
