Day 6: Spiritual Food in Quarantine

Mk 6:47-56

Some insights from the Daily Office gospel reading. The raging waters and wind represent the storms of life. Jesus has power over them. He is with us in the midst of the storm and in our boat.

Jesus promised to be with us to the end of the age. He is faithful to keep that promise. He is our Helper who “amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.” So that “though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, we will not fear, for God has willed His truth to triumph through us.” Our enemies are threats to God’s gift of life but Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Death may be staring us in the face right now but we can fight back with the ways of God Jesus taught us. Take advantage of this face-to-face time with loved ones by cultivating life and the treasure of relationships it offers. Realize and cherish the best things in it.

Also, I know many don't have access to the Eucharist right now. May our missing it make us appreciate it so that the next time we receive it, we can gain much "insight from the incident of the loaves" and our hearts are not hardened (Mk 6:52).
