Friday, May 3: “The Profundity of Priesthood VI”

2 Thessalonians 2: 13: “But we should always give thanks for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, for God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.”

So, let’s get down to practicalities. What exactly does this royal priesthood to which we are called do? For what are we chosen? First of all, salvation: our own, and that of those to whom we witness by our lives and by our words. Secondly, sanctification, which is something done by the Spirit; when we make a DIY project of it, it tends to get messy. And over all, we believe in the truth. In this a priest of God (that’s you) may gain the glory of our Lord Jesu Christ (v. 4).
