“Scribe’s Excellent Adventure?”

Matthew 8: 19: “And a certain scribe came and said to Him, ‘Teacher, I will follow you wherever You go.’” This scribe was like the Israelites; he, too, was focused on the journey and all its attractions. Jesus points out to him that the trip also has it pitfalls (as the storm on the Sea of Galilee soon illustrates), and that there’s more to getting to the other side than just getting to the other side (v. 18).
