Day 80: Spiritual Food in Quarantine

“It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. The life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God” (Gal 2:20)

One of the most quoted verses of scripture is this statement by St. Paul. Note that it was spoken to St. Peter who is considered to be the first pope. If popes need to comprehend this, all Christians definitely do too. We are to live our lives by faith in Jesus, who loved us and gave Himself up for us. Paul stressed the need to demonstrate the same love and self-sacrifice if we are to get others to follow the Lord as well (Gal 2:14). Faith is not an affirmation in one’s mind, but a manifestation in one’s life. Our professed faith in Christ must materialize in the flesh. That’s why St. Francis said, “preach the gospel at all times, use words if necessary.” Lives can change for the better. That’s the good news the world needs to see in order to hear.
