April 16, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

... the gospel which has come to you, just as in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing ... (Colossians 1:5-6)

Contrary to the belief of doomsayers, the faith of the Church proclaims what the apostle and prophets and Jesus proclaimed, that there will be no end to the increase of His government and of the spread of His peace on earth. In the first century, Saint Paul said it was constantly bearing fruit and increasing. It has continued and still goes on to this day. This will eventually result in a fully transfigured world, a new creation. That's the good news of the kingdom.

So what do we do? We anticipate and prepare for it. As we hope for that kingdom to come and its King's will to be done on earth as in heaven, we participate in its fulfillment. As we pray for the grace that abounds in it - the provision of our daily bread and the forgiveness of our sins - we also forgive those who sin against us. We will do this if we truly honor Him because His is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever.
