February 22, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. (1 Corinthians 3:6)

The Bible declares that God, particularly the Second Person of the Trinity, upholds, maintains and propels the entire physical and spiritual universe by His powerful word, carrying it along to its predetermined goal (Hebrews 1:3, Amplified Bible). Why then would this Omnipotent God need puny human beings to accomplish His will? He doesn’t.

God is not just all-powerful, He is also all-good. Nothing can add to that. Therefore, everything He does is not for His good but for another’s. When He invites us to participate in His work, it is not because He needs our help but because it will do us good. We may plant or water, or fulfill our calling, but He is the reason things prosper. That’s who our God is - Omnipotent (infinitely powerful) and yet Omnibenevolent (infinitely good). And that’s the nature we were made partakers of. So when we do plant or water or whatever we do, let us also do it for the good of others, to the glory of God.
