February 23, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and will trust in the Lord. (Psalm 40:3)

David’s statement above is the product of waiting patiently for the Lord and enduring difficult times. He’d had his fair share of severe adversity. The way he tersely describes it in this Psalm hardly gives a picture of even a fraction of what he went through. But after bearing it with a lot of perseverance and faith, God stabilized him after he spent time in precarious and destructive situations. As a result, it made him sing praise and others believe in the Lord.

If we find ourselves in a similar state of affairs, let us focus on what God is planning to turn it into rather than on what we presently see. It’s not easy; not if we rely on our own strength. But with His help, all things are possible, and will be beautiful in His time.
