Friday, August 19: “This Is Only a Test: Part V”

Job 2: 4-6: “Satan answered the Lord and said, ‘Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. However, put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse You to Your face.’ So the Lord said to Satan, ‘Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life.’”

Here’s the thing about the tests that God gives you–they’re usually unannounced. It’s not that they’re pop quizzes; no, the Lord never even tells you that what you’re in the middle of is a test! How easier it would have been for Job if the Lord had told him why he was facing such trials. However, He never told him, “I’m just proving a point to Satan. Hang on, and you’ll get everything back.” But in that, the awesome measure of Job’s faith was revealed, to become an inspiration through the ages. Test highly successful!
