Friday, March 22: “Trust in the Lord’s Defense”

2 Corinthians 4: 7-9: “We have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power of God will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”

Earthen vessels are easily broken. It doesn’t take much to crack them, chip them, or smash them. That’s what our fleshly bodies are like; they are not impervious, nor are they titanium. But we are not fatalistic about our vulnerability. Instead, we trust the power of God in us. The most precious thing we carry around in this clay pot we call our body is the life of Christ. Here is where we place our trust.
