Monday, April 17: “King’s Choice”

Daniel 1: 5a; 13: “The king appointed for them a daily ration of the king’s choice food and from the wine which he drank … ‘Then let our appearance be observed in your presence and the appearance of the youths who are eating the king’s choice food; and deal with your servants according to what you see.’”

How many practices, beliefs, and attitudes in our lives are there because ‘the king’ endorsed, or even enforced, his choices upon us? (And I’m not talking about King Jesus here.) The culture of death and its influencers push their king’s choice to no end; but in the Culture of Life we serve a different King, with different choices. How do we prove the superiority of our King’s choices? Make them our choice, as well, and let everyone see the difference (v. 14-16). This, by the way, is called ‘witness.’
