Monday, January 22: “God Intentions II”

Genesis 14: 14: “When Abram learned that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.”

Lot may have been a heel, but that heel was family, and Abram considered him more of a brother than a nephew (Genesis 13: 8). So He was quick to risk his 318 trained men and go to Lot’s aid when the time came and the need arose. Who knows why Abram had those guys around, but he did not hesitate to call on them to save his late brother’s son. It’s a lot like God, Who sent His only Son to save the unworthy, undeserving human race who had been captured by sin.
