Monday, May 22: “Stick to the Plan”
Luke 9: 51: “When the days were approaching for [Jesus’] ascension, He was determined to go to Jerusalem.”
Jesus was someone who knew what God wanted for Him. He was aware of His Father’s plan for Him in Jerusalem, and He pursued that plan with determination. Undeterred by circumstances (v. 53), not viewing them as a “sign from God” that His destiny lay elsewhere, Jesus didn’t cancel His journey to fulfillment; He just took a more circuitous route (v. 56). In the end He still got to Jerusalem by the Passover, which was the plan all along.
