Psalm 22: 27, 28:“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will worship before You. For the Kingdom is the Lord’s, and He rules over the nations.” You’re the young Jesus, sitting in the synagogue hearing the twenty-second psalm being read. You hear that You will be mocked, beaten, pierced, and terribly abused. What keeps You from packing it all in and running away to South America? Because You listen to the rest of the psalm. And for that joy that is set before You (Hebrews 12: 2), you embrace the cross for the rest of Your life.
