Saturday, January 20: “Growing Together in Love VII”

John 4: 36, 38“Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together … I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.”

The patriarchs had sown. The prophets had sown. John the Baptist had sown. Now it was the apostles turn to labor and, by serving Christ, reap life eternal. As Hebrews says, the former were incomplete without the latter, who are incomplete without …  us (Hebrews 11: 39, 40)! It is in the communion of saints that the Church is enlarged and her fruit matured and manifested.
