Sunday, May 5: “The Importance of Being Real I”

James 1: 18: “In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.”

This is strong! God, in His will (and who can stand against His will?), brought us forth by the word of truth. This phrase, which appears frequently in the New Testament, means what it says, for God’s Word is truth (John 17: 17). In this world truth is considered relative, negotiable, and temporary, but such truth is no truth at all. The real truth is as firm and immutable as Christ Himself, for He is the truth (John 14: 6). And we, being born in that reality, stand as the first among creation to live out our truth. In other words, Christians must be real. We were born to it.
