Tuesday, February 27: “The Odd of God III”

Genesis 42: 8, 17: “Joseph had recognized his brothers, although they did not recognize him … So he put them all in prison for three days.”

Why did Joseph act as he did toward his brothers when he saw them again? Perhaps because … he could. Or maybe after twenty years of trying to forget them (Genesis 41: 51), he needed some space to process the shocking sight before him. But his ensuing actions seem to indicate an attempt to see whether or not their characters had matured during that time. He had changed; had they? He needed to see them prove themselves. Yet another episode in the compelling saga, “The Sons of Jacob: The Odd of God”.
