Wednesday, January 24: “God Intentions IV”

Hebrews 9: 15 “For this reason [Jesus] is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.”

For fifteen hundred years the Old Covenant had been in effect, providing so much, yet promising so much more that had yet to be fulfilled. But during all that time God had not forgotten His people, and when the time came for the New Covenant to be ratified by the blood of His only-begotten Son, Christ came as our high priest, our mediator, our blood sacrifice, our savior; to redeem us from the transgressions committed under the first covenant and bring us to the reality of the New. Promise fulfilled!
