March 31, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

Supposing He was the gardener, Mary said to Jesus, “Sir, if you took Him, tell me where you put Him so that I may get him.” (Jn 20:15)

The most faithful of Jesus’ disciples was Mary Magdalene. That may be the reason she was the first to see the resurrected Jesus. On her way to the tomb, she ran into Him and mistook Him for the gardener. Was she wrong or is Jesus the cultivator of the new Eden?

The first Adam was mandated to cultivate and keep God’s garden. He fell into temptation and failed to fulfill the stewardship entrusted to him. The garden then became a waste place from which sin and death started to spread. But the second Adam, the resurrected Jesus, has started the work of reversing the curse and restoring paradise. No more will He let sins and sorrows grow, nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow far as the curse is found. And He will cause there to be freedom and joy where death had been. So let us join as the dance of life begins. Hallelujah!
