“The Isolation of Salvation”

Isaiah 61: 10; 62: 1: “For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness … until her righteousness goes forth like brightness, and her salvation like a torch that is burning.” How common it is to embrace and celebrate the salvation God has given, while forgetting that the things that go along with it - righteousness and sanctification, among others - are not optional accessories or an added gift pack that may or may not ever be used! Salvation never travels solo; here in this key prophecy concerning it Isaiah highlights the fact by coupling it with righteousness not once, but twice (really three times, if you realize that praise is an expression of salvation). To claim the joy of salvation without the responsibility of righteousness is to minimalize both, and to ensure their ineffectiveness in our lives.
