“Hope of the Tempted”

Luke 4: 13: “And when the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.” Think about it: Jesus was weak from hunger and exposure from forty days in the wilderness. What could be more opportune than that? Yet the devil couldn’t find a crack in His armor that day. Jesus’ advantage then was the very same one available to us today – He was full of the Holy Spirit and led about by the Holy Spirit (v 1). When He was weak, He was strong (2 Corinthians 12: 11). He shows us that our Father will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able (1 Corinthians 10: 13). What hope for the tempted!
