Monday, October 30: “True Light Shining”
Revelation 1: 14b; 15:a; 16a: “His eyes were like a flame of fire … His feet were like burnished bronze when it has been made to glow in a furnace ... His face was like the sun shining in its strength.”
John had previously testified of Jesus as “The True Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man” (John 1: 9), and, in the bible’s first picture of the glorified, ascended Christ in heaven, he reinforces that imagery. His eyes, His feet, His face, even the contents of His hand, all bespeak blazing brilliance. The eternally living Christ is the eternal Light of men, enlightening all humanity with His truth and His love, for John’s words are more than mere imagery, but irrevocable reality.
