Hebrews 2: 1:“For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.” “Familiarity breeds contempt.” So goes the old adage, and it proves true, even in our spiritual lives. Favorite verses become commonplace, beloved songs become meaningless melodies, and our very existence as God’s children becomes unfocused. That’s why we have Lent; a time to “pay much closer attention” to things that, even though yet unseen (v.8), are truths to guide those living in this age toward the Kingdom of God. So let’s not “neglect so great a salvation”!
