UPON THIS ROCK: An Update on the Construction of the Cathedral of the King Building

Let me take you back to November 12, 2016. 4796 Sampaguita St. in Marimar 1, Paranaque City is the place to be for the whole congregation of the Cathedral of the King. The long wait is over and we are finally ready to break ground for the construction of our very own church building. The whole day is filled with excitement as we are graced by the presence of our Patriarch, Archbishop Craig Bates, the late Archbishop Ricardo Alcaraz, Bishop Elmer Belmonte, Bishop Gene Lilly, Bishop Paul Villavicencio, Bishop Raymundo Abogatal, and of course our very own Bishop Ariel Santos. This momentous event is definitely one of the memories our generation will be thankful for to God, our leaders, and elders.

Back to the present, we’ve seen how the church building has progressed. Yes, there is still much work to be done, but this should only make us more expectant because it is a sign that there are still more blessings for our church to experience and give. Even as we continue to pray our Corporate Petition, the Lord has been so good to us that He has allowed our church building to grow even in the midst of this pandemic. According to Architect Cheen Venegas, “given that our church building is an ongoing construction, there are minor water leaks that need to be monitored and minor painting works that need to be done to treat affected areas.” I say, thanks be to God because of the provisions to be able to sustain these needed repairs! Architect Cheen further mentioned that the church is actively looking for availability of funds in preparation for the next phase of the construction Project. It includes enclosing the whole structure up to the roof, completion of the Bell Tower, and installation of the wall enclosure. While these may seem challenging to do, we continue to believe the Lord will provide. But we need to remember that faith without action is useless, so let us also be challenged to do our part – in prayer, giving of our land offering, seeking wisdom on what projects we can do to raise funds, and a lot more. Finally, Bishop Ariel reminded us in his homily that the construction of the church building is generational so let us remain patient for the Lord has something great in store for us!🙏 #COTK #CEC
