Day 20: Spiritual Food in Quarantine

“The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mk 10:32-45)

No sooner had Jesus reiterated (likely grieved in spirit again) that suffering and death awaited Him in Jerusalem, than James and John asked for a selfish favor. The business of the kingdom is to have the will of God done on earth as it is in heaven, as seen in the person of its King, Jesus, particularly in the giving of his life for the sake of others. We became citizens of that kingdom not so we can secure choice seats in its big events, but to fulfill our mission of denying ourselves, taking up our crosses and following Him. As we prepare for Holy Week, may we realize that this is how the kingdom will be fully established here on earth.
