Acts 6: 5a:“And this statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit.” Being the first Christian martyr, St. Stephen is honored by having as his festal celebration the day closest to that of Christ. On this day we remember not only the charitable works of Stephen and his fellow deacons, we hold him up as a believer full of faith, the Holy Spirit, and the willingness to serve and follow His Lord in all things. May his life be mirrored in us!
