Thursday, April 27: “No Fear”

Luke 5: 8, 10b: “When Simon Peter saw [the great catch of fish], he fell down at Jesus’ feet, saying, ‘Go away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!’ And Jesus said to Simon, ‘Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men.’”

Have you ever noticed the similarity of the responses of the unclean spirit we saw in Tuesday’s MDR and that of Peter today? When confronted with Jesus’ power, authority, and holiness, both begged Him to go away. The good news is, Jesus’ responses to them were totally different: To the spirit He said “Get out!” and to Peter He said “Do not fear.” Be assured, His response to you is the same as the one to Peter, rather than the demon, because Jesus came to seek and save people, but not spirits.
